It's a good thing i brought this notepad. It wasnt that long ago that i destroyed my last motorola triupmh in a bicycle joust. But i decided to bring a small notepad with me. One of the biggest projects i've wanted to do to my house sice i bought it was remove the floor of my garage and repour it. That was completed the day before I left. I was able to SEE my floor but it still needed time to set.. 2 weeks outta be enough time. Another dream i've had was to build a mad max car.. Me and ryan were talking about it and decided the best scenario would be to buy an old 90's civic, gut it.. yank the engine and rebuild it from the inside out.. prolly drop about $6k into it and would be a fully new car with a rugged outer shell :) The day I was leaving for hawaii Ryan found something on craigslist that was like finding gold. It was a 02 civic that was in progress of becoming a drag racer. Not only was half the work done FOR me, but the engine that came with it was about $3k MORE expensive than the one I was planning to buy. All for less than $2k. I dropped ryan some cash, he rented a trailer and headed to Yakima to fetch it for me as i worked. I drove to portland after getting to see my new car roll into my driveway for about 10 minutes. Sure, when it rains, it pours.. But, when it shines, it burns! Couldnt have picked a better time, the weather was starting to turn for the worse, I headed to portland as the tempature dropped. Tabatha greeted me on the otherside, we watched crap tv and caught up. it'd been way too long since i'd seen her. Catching up with an old friend is always a great way to start a journey :) The tempature was dropping quickly in the NW so we stayed in and bs'd untill the night ended. Woke and had breakfast as the frost was clutching the world around me.. it was time to switch out of boots for the last time. I hate TSA. More so i hate losing things that go through "checked baggage" as if its even close to secure. So when i journey i do so out of one bag.. regaurdless of trip length. My clothes and goods are modular. allowing me to make use of even the tiniest space and not have to lug extra crap. PDX airport The flight was supposed to be long. I loaded my trusty motorola triupmh with episodes of the walking dead, and a few movies like Percy Jackson. Well as luck would have it the in flight movie was Percy Jackson, so i shut off my fone and watched from me seat and napped as much as i could. By the Time i arrived it was ultra late. But I was able to contact Erin and find out another friend of hers was arrive with me.. Took me about 20 minutes to locate him tho cause he was one step off retard. But we shared a cab and drove into Kona to meet up. THe cabby had no clue what an "Outback steakhouse" was so it took us a bit to find everyone, but there they were, my spokane crew sippin ava and listening to some chill beats. I needed FOOD. Upstairs there was a mexican themed bar, with great food that i attacked like an animal.. while i was inhaling my reuban.. (mexican rueban?) the Dj was setting up and started playin horrendous shit.. but we danced! Everyone was lit. not me. So i drove us all back to the condos which was about 30 minutes south. It was back at the condo resort area that i found what i had got myself into. I brought a sleeping bag and hammock, with the idea of being self sustained.. yet here i stood in a $2000 a week condo that i was to share with a few others. I roomed up with Farmer joe, and tried to plug my fone in.. only to find it was being a real fickle jerk about charging. On of the first things i did was walk outside and stood barefoot in the grass looking at the stars.. why am i not sleeping outside? Sleep came quickly after an episode of family guy on our bedroom 52" flat tv.. :D [day 2] Waking up in a condo was a nice feeling, but nothing like the sun that awaited outside Today was the big pool party celebration, Kelsi was there, everyone who was part of the big wedding party showed up. Great drinks, appetizers, poke, and a stunning salt water pool. Of course at one point during our sunning Erin pulled me into the pool and i was barely able to even say the word Phone, before i was under water scrambling to throw it to the bank.. I tried every trick in the book as fast as possible, took it apart, yanked the battery, stashed it in a bowl of rice (so chinese elves would come repair it) only time would tell.. But for now i was happy that the distraction of the device would no longer stand between me and such a stunning landscape. No shoes, No phone, no care in the world.. i let the sun take over ;)

Later that day after we all had our fill and went to clean up and transform out of the beach bum stand we claimed, we headed off to the Queens center where there was a stellar Sushi restaraunt. As luck would have it we got there so late, that happy hour was almost starting so we moved into the main bar area where they were setting up for Karaoke. We ordered food and me and mindy started signing up for songs. We owned that place by the tim ewe left. Standing applause happened on a few occasions and we left like rockstars.

Everyone was tanked.. so much booze and sun throughout the day , i was impressed the majority was even standing. Somehow we had brought more people to the restaraunt than we had cars for so the next order of businiess was shuttling people back to the condos, as well as the hotel some were at. Erin, Farmer joe, Chunk, and I decided to hoof it back considering our condo wasnt that far away... This began an epic journey all its own. I was amazed at how utterly dark this island got. The level of light polution was almost NIL. So as we wandered along the road, it was almost pitch black when we left the light of the street lights near the shopping district. The call of the Coqui frog caught us off gaurd. at first it sounded like that of someone whistling in the dark. We mimiced the sound and heard the frogs call in reply. It became our group call quickly mostly cause me and erin wouldnt stop echoing this whistle that night and well into the week.

Eventually the van found us along the way and we returned back to the condos for the night, things were wild, and getting worse by the minute.. it was gonna be a long funky week.
